Roger D. Long, 70, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his residence.
He was born February 2, 1951, in South Bend, to the late Joseph W. and Ruth (Scott) Long.
On December 7, 1969, he married Linda Nickle in Rockville and she survives.
Roger worked as a pole barn framer from 1967 until 1968. He then started working as a drywall hanger with McDaniel Drywall, Lafayette Drywall and for the past 35 years for Halstead Drywall until retirement. Rogers hobbies were racing cars at Henry’s Speedway in Chase, IN, winning a trophy dash in 1981. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and attended the 24 hours at Daytona as a crew member in the 80’s. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
Surviving along with his wife Linda are two sons, Donnie Long, and Roger (wife Michelle) Long Jr. as well as five granddaughters, Britani Long, Elisabeth (husband Tony) Cast, Rene (Partner Tyler Woods) Long, Candy (Partner Adam Daugherty) Long, and Arica (Partner Darius Rankins) Long. Also surviving are four great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Vicki Taylor, Mary Warbritton, and Ruth Ann Alford.
Roger was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Morgan.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Soller- Baker Funeral Home at 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Pastor Mike Vauters officiating. Burial will follow at Wyandotte Cemetery.
