Robert M. Hill, 84, of Lafayette, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Rosewalk Village.
Born July 6, 1927, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late William and Martha Willike Hill.
He served in the Army Air Corps from Sept. 21, 1945, to Dec. 19, 1946.
He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1945 and Purdue University in 1950.
On Dec. 24, 1949, he married Maribel Keifer in Lafayette, and she survives.
Mr. Hill had worked at National Homes for 35 years before retiring as an estimator in 1985.
He was a former member of the Elks and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, bowling, traveling to Florida and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Melinda Dunn (husband: Jon Collins) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Nanette Dinkel (husband: Ron) of Liberty Township, Ohio; and two sons, William Hill and Robert E. Hill, both of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Robyn, Bryan, Aaron, Adam, Katrina, Ryan, Julia, Lauren, Nathan and Marisa; and 5 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Avery, Adilyn, Makayla and Mazzey. Preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jacobs; and 2 brothers, Earl and Billy Hill.
Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. A private family burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the Alzheimer&s Association.
