Richard Whalley, 60, of Lafayette, died at 6:35 AM Thursday, May 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Central.
He was born December 17, 1950, in East Meadow, NY, to Madeleine Garrot Whalley of North Carolina and the late Richard W. Whalley.
He graduated from Bellport High School and attended Syracuse University.
In 1988 he married Lawri Balfe in Riverhead, NY and she survives.
He was a Team Leader for S.I.A. for 22 years.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge #347 and enjoyed playing golf, pitching horseshoes, coaching and was an avid NY Yankees fan.
Surviving along with his wife and mother are 2 daughters Nicole Whalley and Jaime Whalley both of Lafayette; 2 sisters Violet Walters (husband Ray) and Juliette Bryant (husband Jerry) both of North Carolina and a brother Alain Whalley (wife Pat) of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by a sister Arlene.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Soller – Baker Lafayette Chapel with a funeral service at 10:00 am Monday, May 23, 2011 at Soller – Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909 with Fr Daniel Gartland officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow View Cemetery.

I worked with Rich for many years in both Isuzu and Subaru.

Rich was a great guy, always very knowledgible and someone who knew what was going on.

We especially went to Rich when we had parts we couldn&t find, he was a real detective and always found what was missing.

We will miss him, not only for his knowledge but also for his personality and dependability.

It has been my priviledge to work with Rich. Not very many people can measure up to his performance.
