Richard L Venable, 61, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1959, in Lafayette to the late Worth F. and Annie M. Perdue Venable. Rick was a 1977 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. On December 31, 1996, he married Melissa L. Weimer in West Lafayette and she survives.

Rick worked for Sam’s Club of Lafayette for over thirty years in warehouse and receiving. He  enjoyed collecting Matchbox cars, building computers, and he had a passion for flower gardening. He was an avid sports fan of the Colts, Cubs, New Orleans Saints, and Purdue. He also enjoyed taking his dog for daily walks in the many beautiful parks in the area.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa L. Venable of Lafayette; sister, Wanda Clendenen (husband Darryl) of Lafayette; brother Jim Venable (wife Diana) of West Lafayette; mother and father- in – law, Karen and Barry Little of Delphi; his brother and sister- in-law, Art and Lori Weimer; and his very close and faithful pets; his dog, Daisy, and cats, Milo, and Jimmy. Rick will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Soller- Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. This will be followed by a graveside service at     2:00 pm at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W 350 N, West Lafayette, IN 47906, with Rev. Dan Sager officiating.

Memorial contributions in Rick’s name may be given to Natalie’s Second Chance Animal Shelter, 10 S. 16th St., Lafayette, In 47905
