Richard H. Schnarr, 73
Richard H. Schnarr, 73, of Lafayette, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at St. Elizabeth East.
He was born April 1, 1938, in Peoria, Ill., and graduated from Minneapolis North High School in Minneapolis.
On June 13, 1959, he married Delores J. Moore in Lafayette, and she survives.
Mr. Schnarr worked for Alcoa 34 years in the re-melt department.
Mr. Schnarr enjoyed time spent with his family and mostly his grandchildren.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Scott A. Schnarr (wife: Carol) of Rossville and Craig A. Schnarr of Mulberry; three brothers, Harold Schnarr (wife: Sharon) of Minnesota, Robert Schnarr (wife: Elizabeth) of Illinois and Steve Schnarr (wife: Sue) of Minnesota; and two sisters, Dorothy Bretz (husband: Ervin) of California and Mary L. Clegg (husband: Brian) of Ohio.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral service 3:30 p.m. Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor Ross Terry officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Send online condolences to www.soller-baker.com

Dear Schnarr family,

Please accept our condolences on the death of Richard. We know mere words may offer but little comfort at this tragic time, but know that our deepest feelings of sympathy lie with you and your family. As a long time friend of Craig and his children, we learned where Craig and Scott developed their sense of pride, work ethic, and family: from their father.

We&ll all miss Richard very much. we know he was a great father. You can see that in the successful children and grandchildren that he raised and by Scott&s guest columns in the Journal and Courier newspaper.
