Richard Dee Drook, 78, of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at St. Mary Healthcare Center, Lafayette.
He was born April 20, 1946, in Marion, to the late Merritt N. and Helen L. (Martin) Drook. He was a 1964 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and worked in the grocery industry until his retirement. On March 19, 1966, he married Lynn Louise Spicer in Marion, IN. Lynn preceded him in death on September 9, 1986.
Richard was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed collecting items from the 1950’s and 1960’s, such as Dell 10 cent comics, Howdy Doody and Little Lulu items as well as Little Golden Books. He also loved music from that time period and had a huge collection of 45’s and albums. Richard was also a long-time Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his 2 children, Tab J. Drook of Tulsa, OK and Erik Drook of West Lafayette; 2 nephews, Steve (Lisa) Drook, Brad Drook, and Monty (Debbie) Drook; and friend Linda DeBoy of West Lafayette.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Russell, Norman, and Merritt “Lee” Drook.
