Rex W Hurst was born the only son of William F. Hurst and Dorothy M. (Bair) Demerly, in Lafayette, Indiana on August 7, 1950. Rex passed away at the age of 74 on November 23, 2024, of natural causes.

In 1972, he married Pamela Sweet and together they had one son, Troy Hurst. Rex then married Doris Simurina in 2002, and she preceded him in death. He married Patricia Morgan in 2007, and they later divorced.
Rex was a meatcutter for local grocery stores throughout Lafayette, West Lafayette, In., El Paso & Houston, TX., before he retired.
Rex was very proud of his family and bragged on them at any opportunity. He was also proud to be a member of Narcotics Anonymous, never having a relapse, making him part of the No Matter What club. He would have celebrated 35 years clean on December 2nd. Against the family’s better judgement, we will mention he was an avid lifelong IU fan.
