Ralph B. McCord Sr., 88, of Lafayette, died at 7:40 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, at Rosewalk Village.
Born June 10, 1922, in Ockley, he was the son of the late Harvey H. and Ruby P. Ashford McCord. He served in the Marine Corps as a corporal aboard the USS North Carolina during World War II.
On Aug. 31, 1946, he married M. Josephine Farrell in Lafayette, and she died on Oct. 28, 2002.
Mr. McCord worked as a laborer at Ross Gear for over 20 years before retiring in 1977. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and being outside.
Surviving are a daughter, Roseanna Behringer of Lafayette; four sons, Ralph McCord Jr. (wife: Linda) of Grove, Okla., and David McCord, Jim McCord and Steve McCord, all of Deer Trail, Colo.; and a brother, Robert McCord of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Service 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, with Fr. Christopher Shocklee officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the American Cancer Society or Matthew 25 Care and Share Soup Kitchen.

I will not be able to make it to the Funeral Home, as I have a terrible cold and do not want to infect anyone. I do, however, wish to add my condolences on the loss of your Father. God bless and keep your dad under His wings.

We missed you at the Reunion this weekend. Hopefully, you will be able to make the 45th. Our class has become closer over the years. By getting together every 5 years, we get to catch up on what has been happening with everyone.
