Ralph Wise, 89, of Lafayette, IN, died at 4:35 AM Friday, November 11, 2011, at Indiana University Health Arnett.
He was born January 3, 1922, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Alonzo and May Schnault Wise.
He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1943
He graduated from Jackson Township School. He married Betty E. Buckles on September 20,1942 in Montmorenci, they have been married for 69 years. IN and she survives. Mr. Wise was a farmer for many years in the Romney area. After his retirement in 1994 he and Betty moved to Lafayette. To keep himself busy he worked part time for Henry Poor Lumber Co. and the Marsh Supermarkets. He enjoyed these jobs very much.
Mr. Wise was a life time member of the Elks, Eagle Lodge Aerie #347, American Legion Post #11 and the Romney United Methodist Church. Mr. Wise enjoyed playing golf, cards, yardwork.
Mr. Wise enjoyed time with his family and friends and mostly his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Betty E. Wise, Lafayette, IN; sons, Michael wife Martha, Lafayette, IN, Max wife Barb, Romney, IN; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a daughter Judy Stevens, a sister Ethel Frey, brothers Donald & Raymond Wise.
Visitation will be 5-7pm November 14, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral Service Monday at 7pm at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel Rev. Chuck Tague officiating.
Those wishing may contribute to the Romney United Methodist or Autism Research.
