Robert S. Pedigo, 59
Robert Steven Pedigo, 59, of West Lafayette, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at his residence.
Born Sept. 5, 1951, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Edna Mae Daum Pedigo and the late Robert Paul Pedigo.
He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1969, received his B.S. in music education from Indiana State University and then his master?s from Ball State.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, whom he married on July 3, 1972, in Lafayette.
Since 1985, Mr. Pedigo had enriched the lives of students at Klondike Middle School with his love of music. As the band director, he challenged them to strive for excellence at solo and ensemble contests, band contests and jazz festivals. Every year he provided opportunities for his students with community outreach programs such as Veterans Day performances at the Indiana Veterans? Home.
During his 26 year tenure with Tippecanoe School Corp., he assisted with filming Harrison football games, developing the Klondike Middle School cross country club, and coaching track.
Mr. Pedigo was a member of Indiana State Teachers Assoc. and National Education Assoc.
He enjoyed biking, camping, and fishing with friends and family as well as maintaining the family farm.
Surviving with his wife and mother are a daughter, Carrie Pedigo; two sons, Aaron Pedigo (wife: Abigail) and Michael Pedigo; a brother, Joseph Pedigo; and a sister, Barbara Kidwell.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with funeral service there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Officiating will be family and friends. Burial will be at Meadow View Cemetery in Lafayette.
