Pluma I. Cornell

Pluma Irene Cornell, 84, of Lafayette, died at 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Cloe Fleming Platt. After graduating from high school, she attended Lafayette Business College.
On June 24, 1944, she married Lorin J. Cornell in Lafayette, and he survives.
Mrs. Cornell was a homemaker who enjoyed hummingbirds, flowers, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Stockwell United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Surviving with her husband are five sons, Larry Cornell (wife: Sharon), Lance Cornell (wife: Lynn), Greg Cornell (wife: Susan), Rex Cornell (wife: Debbie) and Brian Cornell (wife: Theresa), all of Lafayette; a daughter, Cheryl Bluett (husband: Ron) of Crawfordsville; a sister, Anita Barker (husband: Frank) of Monticello; and a brother, Glen Platt (wife: Martha) of Frankfort.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Jeff, Mark, Andy, Cristy, Phillip, Emilie, Chanel, Adam, Caleb, Jesse and Jameson Cornell, Jodi Ray and LaTisha Hummer; and 7 great-grandchildren. Pluma was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, the Rev. Mark Berg officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the Stockwell United Methodist Church.
