Phyllis Eileen (Crowe) McGonigle, 87, passed away at Creasy Springs Health Center on Monday, December 17, 2012. Phyllis Eileen was born April 19, 1925 to the late Bernard Joseph and Ida Irene (Rooze) Crowe. Phyllis Eileen graduated from St. Francis High School in 1943. During high school Phyllis Eileen worked at the Custard Stand on Main Street. After graduation she worked at ALCOA in the office for six years. She married John E. McGonigle on June 18, 1949. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2010. Phyllis then became a homemaker for 18 years before working at Lafayette Home Hospital in the purchasing department then at Loeb's in the billing department, and lastly in the office at Rostone. Phyllis Eileen was an avid reader and bowler, bowling a perfect 300 game during her league. For entertainment both John and Phyllis Eileen loved to dance to Big Band music. One of Phyllis Eileen's favorite summer activities was swimming with her children and grandchildren at the Tahoe Swim Club and the family trips to Disney. Jane (Crowe) Conrad is her only living sister from West Point. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Ruth (Crowe) and Casper Rausch, her brother -in-law John Conrad and a grandson Jonathan David McGonigle. Survivors along with her sister include daughters Jane A. (Al) Oakley and Patricia J. (Mike) Lueken both of Lafayette and sons John E. McGonigle II from Michigan and David H. (Jill) McGonigle from Valparaiso. Grandchildren include: Amber (Tony) Haan, Kyle Oakley, Brett Lueken (Fiancé Kate), J. Reiss Lueken, Elizabeth McGonigle, Megan (Dave) Poisson and David McGonigle. Great grandchildren include Austin and Ashley Haan, Jack Poisson, and Nora, Caroline and William Caward. A memorial celebration will be held from 2-4:00 pm on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Lighthouse Vista Point Club House, 3929 Ann Avenue, Lafayette, IN 47905 Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Macular Degeneration, Multiple Sclerosis Association or the Epilepsy Foundation.
