Paul Edward Durr aged 82 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at The Springs of Lafayette, surrounded by loving family.
He was born March 21, 1936 in Boswell, Indiana to the late Harry T. and Miriam (Grau) Durr. Paul was a Boswell Blackhawk and graduated from Boswell High School in 1954. He followed by attending agriculture classes at Purdue University.
On December 11, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart Carol Ann Dimmich at the Boswell United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2011.
Mr. Durr was a retired, multi-generational, grain and livestock farmer for nearly 60 years in Benton County, Indiana. He was an active member of the Boswell United Methodist Church and Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) before moving to West Lafayette and joining First United Methodist Church.
Paul was a member of the Indiana National Guard, 113th Medical Battalion based in Boswell. He served on the Benton County Fair Board, Boswell Library Board, and Boswell Cemetery Board. Paul enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, gardening, billiards, time with family and vacationing at his cabin on Lake Vermillion in Cook, Minnesota. He was a lifelong Cubs and Purdue fan.
Surviving are two sons, Scott Durr of Los Angeles, California and Bryan Durr (wife Lisa) of Noblesville, Indiana, along with two cherished twin grandsons, Eric and Austin Durr.
Paul was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanita Covalt and a brother, Eugene F. Durr.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel located at 400 Twyckenham Boulevard, Lafayette, Indiana. Private family interment will take place at Boswell Cemetery at a later date.
