Opal Jane Gemmecke, 88, passed away Saturday March 18, 2017. Jane was born and raised near Monrovia,IN. She married Robert (Bob) L. Gemmecke May, 1947 and he preceded her in death. After 27 years of service at Purdue, she retired from the Agronomy Department as the Business Administrator. She later returned to work part-time as an Usher for the Purdue Hall of Music. She volunteered at Home Hospital and also worked in various positions at the Battle Ground United Methodist Church where she was a member. She is survived by her children, Laura Rothenberger Westminster CO, Pamela Lee Shade, Arvada CO, Nicolette Palmer, San Antonio, TX, Dan (Tari) Gemmecke, Battle Ground, Mike Gemmecke, Lafayette and a brother Marshall Blunk, Kentucky. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Fehribach and a brother Bob Woods. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 14, 2017, 3-6 PM at the Battle Ground United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Battle Ground United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice
