Norman J. Plaspohl, 81, of Lafayette died at 12:15 pm Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East. He was born May 31, 1932 in Benton County to the late Paul and Helen Gick Plaspohl. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His marriage was to Joan Yost Plaspohl, they later divorced. Norman worked for Ross Stone for 20 years then as a chemical operator at Eli Lilly & Co before his retirement. Norman was also a subcontractor for Sears & Roebuck . Norman enjoyed carpentry, and was a member of the Forty & Eight Voiture, VFW, Eagles Aerie #347 and American Legion Post # 11. He most enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends. Surviving are his children Rick Plaspohl (Kathy), Judy Dexter, Jeff Plaspohl (Sharla),Deb Plaspohl (partner Rainey Greenup) all of Lafayette; a brother Carl Plaspohl (Betty) of Lafayette; three sisters Pauline Bagwell of Noblesville, Merle Goben of Denver,CO and Mary Helen Plaspohl. Also surviving are nine grandchildren Rick, Amanda, Chase, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Lilly, Abby, Holden and Koss along with five great grandchildren Neely, Rochelle, Roman, Dominic and John. Norman's companion Marie Hale of Lafayette also survives. Memorial visitation will be 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. A private inurnment will be at a later date. Those wishing may contribute to St Elizabeth Hospice Palliative Care in Norman's name.
