Norma Jean Curtis Krieg, 93, passed away peacefully at IU Health Arnett Hospital Tuesday December 29, 2020.
Norma was born November 1, 1927 in Hillsboro, Ohio to Earle W. Curtis and Vivian Mae Hoesman Curtis.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Immanuel United Church of Christ member, friend and supporter to the Lafayette community.
Norma graduated from Jefferson High School in the Class of 1945.
Norma led a very active life as a homemaker, employee at Lafayette Life, Cloth World, Sears and the Cinnamon Bear (Flora). Norma was often at the county fairs and shows with her many sewing, embroidery products and baked goods.
Norma had many interests and hobbies: Homemakers Organization, Quilting at church, gardener, tour guide at Prophet’s Town, choir and soloist singer, Sunday School teacher, Church Wedding planner plus Church Trustee and Elder. The last several years she knitted caps and blankets for newborn babies at local Hospital NICU’s. Everybody loved Norma’s pies; they even got her driveway cleared of snow every winter.
Norma was preceded in death by the ‘love of her life’ Fred Robert Krieg in December 2000. They were happily married in 1949 for 51 years until his death. She is survived by sister Bonnie (Curtis) Hetrick. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy (Curtis) Leaman.
Norma has three surviving children Laurel A. (Krieg) Ruemler (Steve), Kendall C. Krieg (Rebecca) and Michael R. Krieg. She has 11 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
COVID-19 restriction of mask and social distancing will be required.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 4, 2021 also at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
