Nancy L. King, 83, formerly of Battle Ground, died at 6:00 am, Sunday, July 26, 2022, at White Oak Health Campus of Monticello, where she had been a resident for the last year.

She was born January 30, 1939, in Lafayette to the late Charles Kenneth and Mary Lucille Nicholson. She was a 1956 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. On February 7, 1959, Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Joe, in Lafayette. Mrs. King was a homemaker and as her children moved out of the home, she babysat her grandchildren and many other children for several years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

She loved with her whole heart and always put her family first. She was always ready to make a friend and is always described as “kind, loving, and welcoming” each time someone speaks of her. Nancy enjoyed many activities, including, birthday club, 56’ers, cousin dinners, and she participated in many bus trips with her friends.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Charles (Kelly) King of Bringhurst, Gregory (Emma) King of Cutler, and Gary (Cheryl) King of Delphi; 4 grandchildren, Stacy (Wesley) Schroeder, Gary King Jr., Amanda (Robert) Storms, and Aaron King; 12 great-grandchildren, Katie, Brady, Taylor, Morgan, Jayda, Sydnee, Bristol, Charlie, Sawyer, Kallie, Annabelle, and Kynslee; a niece Carrie (Derek) Brown, with who she shared a special relationship, and her sons Austin, Eli, Isaac, and Thad; and a brother, Kenneth “Jay” Nicholson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; 2 infant sons; and a sister, Marjorie Donelson.

A Rosary service will be held at 4:45 pm, followed by visitation from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, July 6, 2022, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1916 Meharry St., Lafayette, IN 47904.

Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, 2581 Schuyler Ave. Lafayette, IN 47905.

Nancy's Family, I'm so sorry about Nancy's death. Nancy's parents Ken & Lucille lived across the street from me. I really enjoyed knowing the Nicholson Family. They were very nice neighbors and great friends, and I miss them. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your family memories will help you through this difficult time. May God bless you.

Dear Family, Have such good memories of Nancy when we were in the youth group at Hope Chapel. Plus being at her folks home and her Uncle Lum & Aunt Pete’s. She always had a quick smile & joy about her when we would bump into one another during the years. Special thoughts are with each of you.

My condolences to Aunt Nancy's family and friends. Whether she (and Uncle Joe too) was lovingly teasing me with that glint in her eye about my hard headed stubbornness when I was little, or telling me how proud she was of me, she ALWAYS made ME feel so special! She will be missed.

Nancy was more than a cousin she was my sister my friend. She was a big part of our family she was always there for anyone who needed a friend. She was our Angel.
