Nancy Brand, 77, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. Nancy is the daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy Buck Newton.
She was born August 31, 1940, attended Monitor Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Dayton High School.
On June 7, 1959, she married John Brand, and this year they celebrated 58 years of marriage. She was the mother of three sons and the mother-in-law of three wonderful daughters-in-law; John W. Brand (Carmel), Jeffrey J. Brand (Karalee), and Jerry A. Brand (Rachelle). Also surviving are ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Along with raising three boys in a male dominated household, she found time to help John start a family business for which she kept the books for many years, until she discovered that being a GRANDMOTHER was far more exciting and fun than bookkeeping!
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who enjoyed watching all her family’s activities. She was especially good at shopping for the granddaughters, making delicious cream pies for her grandsons, holiday noodles and iced sugar cookies.
Nancy was a member and Trustee of Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dayton, former member of the Dayton Mothers Club and attended Bible Study Fellowship. She was a founding member of the Southfork Hand and Foot Card Club.
She is also survived by a brother, Cliff Newton (Jinny) and a sister, Carol Neal, and preceded in death by a sister, Wanda McCabe.
She will be greatly missed by a huge extended family and forever remembered for living her entire life with dignity and grace.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am with calling from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dayton with Rev. Dr. Justin Schlesinger-Devlin officiating.
Those wishing may contribute in Nancy’s name to Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dayton or Riley Children’s Foundation.
