Mildred Jean “Millie” Meacham, 74, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly at 5:02 pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at IU Arnett Hospital.
She was born May 8, 1941, in Lafayette, to the late Paul and Margaret Sturgeon Stingle.
Millie graduated from Pine Village High School in 1959 and had retired from Biggs Pump and Supply in 1984 after several years as a bookkeeper.
On May 26, 1978 she married James Ray Meacham in Pine Village. He passed away December 6 of this year.
Millie was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, taking pictures and gardening.
Surviving are children, Mike Sturgeon (wife Connie) of Kokomo and Margie Stetler (husband Larry) of Lafayette, her step children, Kathy Skannal (husband John) of Austin, TX, Sharon Blomquist (husband Orjan) of Cedar Park, TX, Carol McArthur (husband Steven) of Austin, TX, and David Meacham (wife Robin) of Pflugerville, TX, brothers, Maurice Stingle (wife June) of Toledo, IL and David Stingle (wife Pat) of Indianapolis and a sister, Arlene Blessing (husband Marv) of Pine Village. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Courtney, Shelby, and Brittany Sturgeon, Erica York, Ashley (husband Aaron) McNeal, and Ryan Stetler (wife Rebecca), six step-grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, and Emily McArthur, Michael (wife Anna), Justin, and Tyler Meacham, five great grandchildren, Ryan Prate, Dodge Sturgeon, Tony Murillo, and Selena Siena-Murillo and Jaxon Stetler along with three step-great grandchildren, Hayden and Hudson Meacham and Addison Myers.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Stingle.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 16th at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Lore Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
