Michael Lee Payne, 68, of Shadeland, passed away at 7:01 am Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1946, in Logansport, to the late Douglas and Minnie Shoemaker Payne. Michael retired from the Tippecanoe County Highway Department as an operator. He was a member of the F.O.P. and enjoyed working on things, fishing, woodworking and puzzles. Surviving are a brother, Richard Payne (Karen) of Cumming, GA and two sisters, Janet Huffman (Ty) of Indianapolis and Beverly Painter (Gary) of Middletown. He was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Jean Payne and a step son, Chris Evans. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
