Michael L. Gochenour, 61, of Rossville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, October 25, 2015. He was born January 15, 1954, in Lafayette to the late Dan Gochenour and Marian Galbraith Gochenour Reagan. Mike was a loving, caring, giving man and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to all that knew him. His firm belief in God, gave him strength and peace in his final days. Mike was a philosopher and had a way with words and always had an answer. He was a member of and attended Rossville United Methodist Church. Surviving along with his wife are his children Michael Lee Gochenour II (Fiance Annette Phillips) of Denham Springs, LA, Julie C. Chrisman (Troy) of Lafayette, one very special grandaughter, which he raised and loved as a daughter, Sequoya E. Hodgen, five wonderful grandsons, all of which he was very proud of, Tony Gochenour (Kendra), Matt Gochenour, Seth, Zach and Jacob Chrisman. Also survivng are his sisters Sandy Cornell (Roger), Karen Evans (Robert), Diana Bohan all of Lafayette, a 1/2 sister Kimberly Siebert (Rod) of Iowa and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by a daughter Trisha Gochenour and a sister Kathy Graham. Visitation will be 1:00 pm to 2:30 PM Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service will be 2:30 PM Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to a savings account for Sequoya's college fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
