Melody A. Fitzsimons, 50, of Lafayette, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at her residence.
She was born February 27, 1961, in Lafayette, to Cecelia Collins Phillips of Otterbein and the late Richard L. Phillips.
She served in the Army from 1979 till 1993.
She attended Harrison High School.
Her marriage was to James A. “Jimmy” Fitzsimons and he survives.
She enjoyed horses, NASCAR and especially Jeff Gordon.
She had just overcome breast cancer, and was active in Walk For A Cure and Relay for Life events. “She is a cancer survivor.”
Surviving along with her husband and mother are two daughters Misty A. Falk of Lafayette, Tiffany K. Fultz of St. Crouix Falls, WI, a son Anthony Fitzsimons of Lafayette, a brother Ricky D. Phillips of Otterbein, four grandchildren Mikayla, Samantha, J.D., and Elijah and a long time friend Barb Wagoner of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Phillips.
Visitation will be 5 till the time of the service at 7:00 pm Wednesday December 28, 2011 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909
