Geri -- I am so sory for your loss. There are no words to express the true feelings when one losses their Mother--especially when you were close. All I can say--and this is from experiences--the memories and the times you spent together will be a wonderful blessing. Time does heal as they say, but know in the meantime that she is at peace and keeping her eye on you from above.

We lived next door to Melba for several years on Shenandoah Street.
She was the sweetest lady ever. She would keep and eye on our kids for us while we were at work. She would always make us some type of thank you for any help we gave her, we didn&t want it but she always seemed to pop up with something.

Granny, you gave me an unfathomable gift in allowing me to be part of your daily care these last four months of your life. You gave me the gift of purpose, the gift of your smile and laughter, the gift of knowing I was doing something wonderful in helping ease your pain--even if only a little. Thank you for being my sweet Granny these past 39 years, and thank you for sharing the sacred honor of your last days on earth with me. I know you are dancing in the orange groves with Grandpa, now, eating a box of Whitman&s chocolates as your mother claps along and laughs with you. Thank you for making my life on earth feel heavenly. P.S. I hereby pronounce you a perpetual and honorary winner of Yahtzee!!!!!!, forever and ever, amen.

Betty, Geri, Michelle, and the rest that I am leaving out. Aunt Melba will be greatly missed. I had the blessing to be able to speak with her for a few minutes one night while talking with Chel. It was just a blessing to be able to talk with her. I know how it is to lose a family member and it is hard. But the hardest is losing a mother. When dad died almost 5 years ago it was very hard. I can honestly say that I will miss Aunt Melba terribely. She was just an awesome person. I can see her standing in heaven with Mawmaw Nade and those two singing in the heavenly choir. I will keep you all in my prayers. If any of you ever need someone to listen to you or just to talk just know that I will be there for any of you. Words can not express how much me and my family love you!!! You were the like another parent to me!! Iknew from birth until death. And is was my honor to have you as part of my life!!
