Mary C. (O'Brien) Taylor, 99, of Lafayette died Friday, July 31, 2015 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. She was born October 29, 1915, in Benton County, IN, to the late Joesph and Verna Roth O'Brien. On January 31, 1940 she married James D. Taylor in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2010. Mary worked as manager of the Book Department of Loeb's Department Store and is retired. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Home Ec Club and the Home Demonstration Chorus. Surviving are her children Thomas D. Taylor (Joyce) of Clinton, Joye A. Watkins of Lafayette, grandchildren David Watkins, Lisa Taylor Reik, Scott Taylor, Natalie Bundy, Mike Taylor, Leslie Boyke, Brian Taylor, 14 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Also survivng are her sisters Nellie Dawson of Baton Rouge, LA, Patti Nelson of NY, Cecelia Albreghts (Richard) of WI and Las Vegas, Esther Duncan of Mellott and a brother Frank O'Brien of Winter Park, FL. Mary was preceded in death by sisters Jeanette Leher, Margaret Lohr, Evelyn Jankovic, brothers Lawrence, Joseph, Albert and James O'Brien. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to a 2:00 PM service on Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Rev. Dr. James Morin officiating. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
