Mary C. McManus, 84, of Dayton, died at 11:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Central.
She was born January 4, 1928, in Lafayette, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis.
Her marriage was to Anton C. McManus Sr. in Chicago, and after fifty-three and a half wonderful years of marriage, he died on December 22, 2000.
Mary was a media specialist with Lafayette School Corp. for 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Eagles, Moose, VFW, and Dance Club. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, word search puzzles and spending time with her family.
Surviving are four daughters, DeAnna Mitchell (husband DeRay) of Golden Valley, AZ, Mary Culwell (husband J.D.) of Wichita Falls, TX, Lora McManus of Dayton and Vicky Hedger (husband Kevin) of Galveston, a son, Anton McManus Jr. of Dayton, 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 2:00 pm service Monday, January 9, 2012, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Daniel Carmody officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Vale Cemetery.
Those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Eagles, Moose, VFW or Dance Club.

Tim and I have fond memories of both Mary and Mack and knew them through Johnson Rags Dance Club. When we first joined several years ago they were both so welcoming and engaging. Their love for each other was obvious, as was their love for life and for their family. They often spoke of family with much pride. They will indeed be missed.

May you have many wonderful memories to bring a smile to your face and to give you peace and comfort in the days to come.

We feel privileged to have known Mary and Mack. Our sympathy and prayers are with your family.
