Mary Ann (Myer) Clampitt, 89, of Lafayette, died on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Indiana Veteran’s Home. Born February 27, 1926 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. Myer and Anna Seeger Myer. Mary Ann graduated from St. Francis High School in 1945. On September 11, 1948 she married Wilbur K. Clampitt at St. Boniface, and they celebrated 62 anniversaries before his death in 2010. Mary Ann was active in the Oakland Elementary PTA and Mothers Study Club. She later became the first Oakland secretary and retired in May 1987. Mary Ann enjoyed playing euchre with her St. Francis “sisters” and bowling on various leagues throughout her life. She supported area veterans and the community through her many activities in the American Legion Auxiliary, the Navy Club Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and the 8 & 40. Mary Ann always made time to support her family and friends, celebrating their accomplishments and lending a helping hand when life got rough. Always ready for a good time, her fun-loving personality was present until the end. Mary Ann is survived by her two sons, Robert (Deborah) Clampitt and Harold (Diana) Clampitt, both of Lafayette; and daughter, Anna Matthys, of Lafayette. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers: Ank, Robert, Jack, Bud, and Dick Myer. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to every staff member and resident of the Indiana Veteran’s Home who touched Mary Ann’s life in such a loving and caring way. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fr. Mark Walter Officiating. Interment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the MacArthur 4 Nursing Unit at the Indiana Veterans’ Home, 3851 Soldiers Home Road, West Lafayette, IN 47906; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st St. STE 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
