Marjorie Jo Fitzgerald, 83, of Lafayette, died at 1:44 AM Saturday, October 11, 2014 in her residence. She was born December 28, 1930, in Lawrence Co., IL, to the late Roy and Wilma Shoulders. She graduated and was a Valedictorian from Lincoln High School in Vincennes in 1949. Marjorie worked In the Lafayette School Corporation as a custodian until 1995 when she retired. She also worked part time at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the dietician Dept. She volunteered her time to the Matrix Pregnancy Program to help out expecting mothers. She enjoyed sewing and made many quilts for her many nieces and nephews as well as donated lap and baby quilts. She also enjoyed going to the Indy 500, Nascar races, taking weekend road trips, and all sorts of puzzles especially crosswords. Surviving are her children, daughter, Lynne Englert of Buckeye, AZ, and son Kurt Fitzgerald of Lafayette. Also 3 grandchildren, Matthew Englert and Jeremy Fitzgerald, both of Lafayette, and Amber Fitzgerald of Montana, a brother, Milo Shoulders of Sullivan, and her 5 great grandchildren, Cale Fitzgerald Englert, Alexis Breanne Smith, Zachariah David Lumley all of Lafayette and Allie Renee Fitzgerald of Indianapolis. She is preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters, a son, Michael Fitzgerald, and a grandson Kraig Fitzgerald. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday October 15, 2014 at the Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Lafayette Chapel. Burial will follow at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Matrix Pregnancy Resource Center, 935 Mezzanine Drive, Suite A, Lafayette, IN 47905, or to the American Diabetes Association, 8604 Allisonville Road Suite 140 Indianapolis, Indiana.
