Margery E. Bennett

Margery E. Bennett, 64, of Lafayette, died at 10:48 p.m. Friday Dec. 25, 2009, at the home of her daughter after battling cancer for more than a year.
She was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Lebanon, to Leona Heath Porter Boone of Crawfrodsville and the late Donald Porter. She was a graduate of Darlington High School.
On Dec. 20, 1964, she married Larry Bennett and they divorced. She then married Thomas Batta. They also divorced.
Mrs. Bennett worked for Ceres Solutions since 1984 and held various positions, retiring in 2007 as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, bird watching, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving besides her mother are her children, Gena P. Brown (husband: Kerry) of Lafayette and Wade Bennett (wife: Mindy) of Linden; and two sisters, Virginia Rose (husband: Harold) of Thorntown and Donna Lytle of Crawfordsville.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren Heath, Hayden, Ashlynn, Layla and Porter.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., with service there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall will officiate. Burial at Linden Cemetery. Those desiring may contribute to the American Cancer Society.
