Margaret Rose Shriner died October 11, 2015. Born in Lafayette to Abram and Genevieve (Graham) Kamstra on April 26, 1925, Margaret was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, graduating from its grade school and St. Francis High School (1942). She married Thomas L. Shriner on October 12, 1946. They had seven children, Tom (Donna) of Milwaukee; Tim (Kathi) of Lafayette; Denny (Annette) of Adelaide, South Australia; Dave (Cindy) of Lafayette; Annalee (the late Jim Linn); Ron (Linda); and Patrick (New York City). Margaret's husband, her daughter, and her brother, Joe Kamstra, predeceased her. She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with four more expected by the end of the year. She is also survived by many close friends. In addition to raising seven children, Margaret enjoyed working at General Telephone a number of years, where she made many friends. Margaret loved playing golf and socializing with Tom and their close friends at the Lafayette Elks Golf Club. She was part of group of longtime friends who met regularly for breakfast at the Downtowner to share stories about family, travels, and the world. Margaret was born in and lived most of her life in the north end of Lafayette, and although she was just as happy to be at home working on a crossword puzzle or visiting relatives on the river, she was also a frequent traveler who took many trips around the country as well as overseas. She was funny, supportive, and memorable to everyone she met. Margaret was a good friend to her children, her many daughters-in-law, and her grandchildrenall of whom have many happy memories of times spent with her. Margaret is missed, but she would want us to remember her as someone who enjoyed life and her time with us very much. Visitation 10-11am Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church followed by Mass at 11am. Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating inurnment to follow at St Boniface cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be made to St. Lawrence Elementary School, 1902 Meharry St.
