Margaret L. Gustafson, 93, of West Lafayette, IN, died at 10:15 PM Saturday, October 3, 2015, at University Place. She was born June 28, 1922, in Tippecanoe County, IN, to the late Ivan and Ermine Holton Hamilton and was next to the oldest of nine children. Margaret graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and started working at Purdue University as a clerk stenographer in the Home Ec Ext. Department for a year. Her marriage was to Kenneth E. Gustafson on July 10, 1941, and he passed away on December 10, 1987. They moved to the farm in 1948 where she milked cows, raised chickens and sold eggs at the house, did gardening and had fruit trees and froze and canned the produce. She grew up in the Elston Presbyterian Church. In August, 1948, the Hubblers who attended the Church of Christ on Kossuth St. and operated the Huble elevator at Taylor Station, invited us to a meeting. Earl and I went forward and were baptized buy Paul Himes at Crawfordsville because they had a baptistery. She taught a Sunday school class of 4 and 5 year olds for 11 ½ years. The church moved to Elmwood in 1956. Margaret was active with Senior Servants and did their cards for many years. She remained on the farm after Earl died till 2009, and then moved to University Place where her sister also lives. She loved living there and made many new friends, and was active on committees. Margaret made prayer shawls for her church and University Place. Surviving is her daughter, Jan L. Woodfill, of Santa Rosa Valley,CA; Granddaughter, Margaret Minister, of Portland,Maine; Great grandchildren, Devlin O'Keefe and Edie Raye, both of Portland,Maine; Sisters, Emma Frey ( spouse Harley),West Lafayette, Delores Watt (spouse Wesley J.),Melborne, FL, and Linda Z. Holton-Hamilton, Indialantic,FL..
