Margaret J. Tarter, 77, of Lafayette passed away Monday morning, surrounded by her family, at her residence. She was born March 8, 1936, in Tippecanoe County to the late Elzie and Lucy Stanfield Wagner. On July 21, 1956 she married Herbert Tarter in West Lafayette. Margaret was a home maker where she raised her family and enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and reading her bible. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Winston. Surviving are her daughters Lucinda Hedgecough of Lafayette, Samantha Hooper husband Kim of Lafayette, grandchildren Jeannie Vester husband Brent, Daniel Tarter, William and Robert Tarter, Jacob Hedgecough Fiance' Julie Ruff, Kalynn Scott, Bradley Scott companion Teora Schumacher and Eleesha Hedgecough companion Pedro Haro. Also surviving is a distant son Clifton Tarter of Fl. Her family expresses their gratitude to St. Elizabeth Hospice. Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Service 2:00 PM Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the St. Elizabeth Hospice.
