Margaret C. “Gary” Sutton, 94 of West Lafayette died at 2:10 pm, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on July 29, 1922 to the late Gus and Avis (Armour) Cadwell. She attended High School in Huron, South Dakota and college at both Monticello Junior College in Godfrey, Illinois and Purdue University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Management and Housing. She worked as a designer for National Homes. She also worked for Morris Bryant where she retired in 1994. On August 25, 1950, she married the love of her life, Cruthers V. “Dick” Sutton in Indianapolis. He has been patiently waiting to greet her in heaven since his passing on February 4, 2012.
Margaret loved being in her garden tending to her flowers, bird watching, knitting, and playing her organ. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxillary.
Surviving are her three children, Jacquie (David) Leaman of Virginia, Sharon (Bill) Waggoner of Illinois, Rick (Cathy) Sutton of West Lafayette; 6 grandchildren, Philip (Amanda) Waggoner, Joshua (Kristina) Waggoner, Elizabeth Sutton, Samantha Sutton, Danielle (Josh) Gleason, and Joseph Sutton; and 4 great grandchildren with one due in July. She is also survived by her brother Joe W. (Jean) Cadwell of South Dakota.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Pkwy, West Lafayette with David Mills officiating.
Memorial contributions in Margaret’s name may be given to the Audubon Society or the National Arbor Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
