Madeline Underhill

Madeline Underhill, 88, of Lafayette, died at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
She was born July 30, 1921, in Warren County.
On Sept. 19, 1944, she married Charles Wayne Underhill in Lafayette, and he died on March 15, 1994.
Mrs. Underhill and her husband co-owned M and W Fruitland in West Lafayette until 1965.
She enjoyed word searches, loved animals and her family and feeding and watching hummingbirds.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandy Aubey (husband: Joe), and son, Denny Underhill, both of Lafayette; and a brother, Bob Roland (wife: Lois) of Williamsport.
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Brian and Brett Underhill, Kevin and Korey Aubey, Chris Underhill and Michelle McCallister (husband: Jeff); and 3 great-grandchildren, Steven Underhill, Alysha Galbraith and Landon McCallister. Madeline was preceded in death by a son, Larry Underhill; a granddaughter, Kelly Crowell; and 2 sisters, Pauline Bowser and Hazel Warren.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909, with the Rev. Greg Eberhard officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Those wishing may contribute to the American Cancer Society.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to you. Although we haven?t met, all of us have experienced the loss of a loved one. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are never alone. Turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance and to help soothe your heart. Psalms 34;18 assures us that God is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

I&m so sorry to read about the loss of your mother. I&m sure it&s a very sad day for you and your family. I remember all the good times we had when we were younger at the fruit market and your house. She was a wonderful woman. If there is anything I can do for you please don&t hesitate to call me.

I am so sorry for you loss. Your father (Wayne) worked for my parents in the 1950 at the Village Grill in West Lafayette and Madeline was often there, she was always fun to have around and always had a great smile. I had lost track of them, but never forgot them.

Dear Family,
We loved Madeline so much and we were blessed to have your family as neighbors all those years. We were so young starting out in our home with 4 children in 1963.Your Mom and Dad and Grandpa Underhill were good people and good to us. We have so many memories of Larry and Denny and especially Sandy and Kevin. We are so glad we got to see Madeline this fall. Of course we were sorry for the lose of Larry.
