Mabel M. Clayton, 67, of Lafayette, passed away at 11:03 AM Thursday, March 27, 2014 at her residence. She was born January 21, 1947, in Ewing, VA, to the late Homer and Martha Saylor Kelly. On August 17, 1964 she married Jimmie L. Clayton in St. Joseph, MI and he survives. Mabel attended Christ Memorial Temple and loved spending time with her large extended family, children, grandchildren and reading the Bible. Surviving along with her husband, are two sons, Jimmie Clayton Jr (Rae) of Holland, MI, Randy Clayton (Mitsy) of Lafayette; a daughter Ronda Huffman (Tim) of Lafayette; a sister Christine Stafford (Curtis) of W.V.; two brothers, Troy Kelly (Debra) of Battle Ground, Homer Kelly Jr (Madonna) of Holland, MI; seven grandchildren, Veronica, Drew, Jessica, Arshanti, Aaliyah, Leeanne, and Sarah along with two great grandchildren Loki and Gabe. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Visitation will be 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, April 3, with the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909 with Bishop Raymond Parnell officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
