M. Lucille Rodgers, 90, of Lafayette, died at 8:50 am, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at home with loved ones near.
She was born June 13, 1928 in Lebanon, KY to the late Harvey and Mattie (Coyle) Sapp. Lucille was educated in Kentucky schools. She married John Q. (JQ) Rodgers on July 9, 1947 in Lebanon, Kentucky. JQ preceded her in death in December 1990. Lucille farmed with JQ in Kentucky until moving to Indiana in 1956. Once in Indiana, she worked at National Homes Acceptance Corporation for 10 years as well as at Green Giant and General Foods prior to working at and eventually retiring from Lafayette Venetian Blind in 1993.
She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers and the outdoors Above all, Lucille cherished time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are 3 children, Rita (Tom) Neel of Dayton, Kenneth D. (Roseanne) Rodgers of New Castle, Johnnie H. (Rebecca) Rodgers of Manhattan, KS; a brother, Charles Sapp of Lebanon, KY; a sister, Margaret Totman of Parksville, KY; 9 grandchildren, Johanna (Brian) Clemons of Arab, AL Carla Jo Richards of Dayton, Christy Jo (Jason) Odle of Lafayette, Micale Rodgers of KS, John B. Rodgers of KS, Chad Neel of Lafayette, Alana (Derek) Hufford of Lafayette, Thomas J. (Erica) Neel of Anderson, Michelle Neel of W. Lafayette; 6 great grandchildren, Jessica (Charles) Clark, Ben Johnson, and Tyler Clemons of AL, Jacob Richards, Hanna Richards, Jovey Odle and Alex Odle all of Lafayette; 3 great-great grandchildren, Eden Clark, Charlie Clark, and Lincoln Clark all of AL.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona Faye Rodgers; and 3 sisters, Carrie Mae Beavers, Georgia Vataw, and Nora Agnes Prescott.
Memorial contributions in Lucille’s name may be given to Great Lakes Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am, Friday, November 9, 2018 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette with Pastor Alan Downing officiating.
Interment will follow at Monroe Cemetery, E. 900 South, Lafayette, IN 47909.
