Luella A. Thise, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday February 3rd. as a resident of Heritage Heathcare. She was born August 1, 1927 in Lafayette to the late George and Mary Meagher May. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1945 where she was class president and member of the Drama Club. She was a mother and homemaker. Along with her late husband they owned and operated RJ Thise Construction Company and the Tastee-Freeze. Later she was administrative assistant at the Arnett Clinic where she retired. There she launched and was the editor of the inter-office bulletin, the Clinic Clips.
On October 14, 1948 she married her beloved husband Robert J. Thise, they were married for 52 years. She is survived by her daughters Molly Heeke, husband Terry, Robyn Bushman, husband Ross all of Leesaburg, FL Elayne Burke, husband Dennis of Lady Lake, FL, sons Mark, wife Dorothy, Sam, wife Connie of Weirsdale, FL and 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death her daughter Kristyne and son Luke and grandson Zachary Joseph Thise.
She cherished her longtime friends who she met monthly for cards, pizza and prayer. She was an excellent cook, an avid reader and loved dabbling with her arts and crafts. She would entertain the family telling stories and singing her favorite Irish songs. She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Red Hats and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Friends may pay their respects Saturday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Father Tim Alkire will hold a family service in the Soller-Baker Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those desiring may contribute in memoriam to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
