Lucine B. Jones, 92, of West Lafayette, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Heritage Health Care.
She was born July 1, 1917, in Burns City, and was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Padgett and S. Jane Crane Padgett Strange. She graduated from Burns City High School.
On Aug. 27,1935, she married Lawrence “Bob” Jones in Bramble. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and had been a cook at Harrison High School for several years.
She was a charter member of Church of the Blessed Sacrament and enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, decorating her home and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn McKay and Mary Lannerd (husband: Robert), both of West Lafayette, and Patricia Brettnacher of Beaument, Texas; and a son, Lawrence T. “Larry” Jones (wife: Tina) of West Lafayette.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Mary Ruth Cullather, Jeff and Bart Brettnacher, Kim Arnold, Rob, Kevin and Jason Lannerd, Shelia McFall, Michael and Kristy Korty, Chris, Brian and Larry Jones and Natalie Fultz; and 17 great-grandchildren and several neices, nephews and friends. Lucine was preceded in death by a brother Donald Padgett.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, with rosary service at 5 p.m. at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway, West Lafayette, and again an hour prior to a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2224 Sacramento Drive, West Lafayette, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament.
