Lucille Carter, 86, of Lafayette, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at St. Anthony Health Care. She was born December 12, 1926, in Hog Point, IN, to the late Hollie and Della Croninger Ewing. Lucille attended Battle Ground High School and on November 11, 1943 she married Eugene Carter in Battle Ground. He preceded her in death February 11, 1998. Mrs. Carter was retired from the Indiana Veterans Home. She was a member of Faith Church and enjoyed bowling, music, singing hymns and was a former member of the Star City Chorus with Sweet Adeline's. Lucille loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her children Cindy Rusk (Alan) of Lafayette, Jerry Carter (Donella) of Brookston, Chase Carter of St. Petersburg, FL, Larry Carter of Pinellas Park, FL, Deb Spitznagle (Mel) of Lafayette, Carole Fisher (James) of Frankfort, 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Lloyd Ewing of FL, Cleo Ewing of West Lafayette, IN, Hollie Ewing Jr. of ND, a sister Alice Evans of ND and a daughter-in-law Gwen Carter of Lafayette. Lucille was preceded in death by a son James Carter, grandson Richard “Ricky” Carter, a sister Violet Rumple and brothers Cecil and Charles Ewing. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8:00 PM Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Tywckenham Blvd. Funeral Service 1:30 PM Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor Rob Green officiating.
