Loren Keown, 84, of Lafayette, died at 11:48 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at his residence. He was born February 2, 1929, in Madisonville, Ky. He served in the United States Navy from July 17, 1947, to March 24, 1949 On October 26, 1963, he married Ruth Mary Godbey in Logansport and she survives. Mr. Keown worked for AE Staley South Plant for 17 years until he retired and then worked 13 years for Kelly Construction in Lafayette. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God here in Lafayette, and was also involved in the TRACT Ministry in area churches. Mr. Keown enjoyed making rings out of stainless steel and belt buckles. Surviving are wife Ruth Keowen, Lafayette; two sons – Wayne and Judy Keown and Travis Keown, both of Dallas. Seven grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral Service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Rev. Lee Roy Hill officiating. Burial will be at Spring Vale Cemetery. Preceded in death by two sons – Michael and Stanley Keown; and a brother and one sister. Those wishing may contribute to the charity of choice.
