Lilly May Stillabower, 91, of Lafayette, died peacefully at 10:05 am Monday, July 21, 2014 at Creasy Springs Health Campus. She was born July 10, 1923, in Tippecanoe County, to the late Jess Robertson and Amanda Brown Bonty. Lilly attended Dayton, Wea, and Jefferson and graduated from West Point High School. Her 44 year marriage to Opie R. “Bud” Stillabower began on December 12, 1942. He preceded Lilly in death on April 7, 1987. Always active socially, Lilly was a member of 40&8 LaFems, American Legion Post #11 and the VFW Auxiliaries. She enjoyed gardening and spending quality family time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are two loyal and dedicated sons, Timothy Stillabower and wife Deborah of Lafayette and Terry Stillabower and wife Mayon of Katy, Texas; a sister Shirley Griffen of Winterhaven, Florida; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Stillabower, a son, Jerry Stillabower and three brothers. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 26 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Rick Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Vale Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the 40&8 Nursing Scholarship.
