Leo H. Kerker, 90, of West Lafayette, died at 2:51 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Central.
He was born July 21, 1919, in Tippecanoe County, to the late Frank and Laura Burkle Kerker.
Mr. Kerker graduated from Montmorenci High School in 1937 and farmed in Shelby Township most of his life.
He was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Indiana Farm Bureau and Montmorenci Alumni Association; and was a founding member of the Shelby Township Historical Association. He enjoyed genealogy and antiquing.
Surviving is a sister, Mary Sigman of West Lafayette.
Also surviving are nephews, Donald Shidler and Richard Shidler; nieces, Helen Lester, Mary B. Smith and Donna K. Aynes; several great-nieces and -nephews and many great-great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Francis Kerker and Paul W. Kerker; a sister, Helen Shidler; and 3 nephews, Frank Kerker, Robert Kerker and Paul J. Kerker.
Friends may call 1 hour prior to an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Entombment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shelby Township Historical Association or Montmorenci Alumni Association.
