It is with heavy hearts that Leo H Gagne Jr. husband of Joanne M Gagne formerly of Waterbury, CT passed away on August 31, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Leo was born in Waterbury, CT on November 9, 1959 to the late Mary A and Leo H Gagne Sr. He graduated from Sacred Heart high school and Post college with a bachelor degree in accounting.
He was an accountant for many years working for Grolier Inc. Danbury, CT and American Chemical & Refining Waterbury, CT. Later on, he worked for the US Postal service Stratford, CT where he stubbornly retired due to his illness.
Leo was very passionate with his faith which he found comfort and peace in even in the most trying days. He was a proud member of The Knights of Columbus Waterbury, CT council 24 as well as their former recording secretary. He was a MN Vikings fan since childhood and as his daughter would say when she was little…You could hear dad cheering or upset they were losing from down the street! Go Vikings! Leo loved a good game of poker with family & friends earning the Nic name last card Leo. We will miss his sarcastic humor sometimes making you laugh while other times shaking your head. He loved watching old movies and tv shows with his favorite being MASH. Most of all he cherished family, friends with his greatest joys spending quality time with his beautiful grandchildren and enjoyed playing board games, taking them to the playground, vacations and loved attending their events cheering them on from the sidelines.
Leo was a true hero, a miracle surviving many treatments and not one but two bone marrow transplants with bravery and strength. He is very grateful for his first donor & his daughter as his second donor for their selflessness to help him beat this disease. Leo will be missed more than words can say.
Survived by his wife and best friend Joanne of 42 years, his daughter Michelle and her husband
Troy(son-in-law), a granddaughter Elaina, grandson Talon, his sister Lori her husband Ernie. Brother & sister in-laws Kristine (Dan), Renee (Frank) & Richard Jr. Several nephews, a niece and cousins.
The family would like to thank his transplant teams at Dana Farber Boston, MA for their excellent care and for coordinating a second transplant with IU Simon Cancer Center Indianapolis, IN as well as their excellent care so Leo could spend time with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at St. Ann Church & Sherine Lafayette, Indiana on Tuesday September 10, 2024, at 11:00 am.
