Lauretta M. Heady, 103, of Lafayette died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at St. Mary Health Care. She had formerly lived in Indianapolis until moving to Lafayette nine years ago to reside with her niece Donna Beeler (Lewis) of Lafayette. She was born February 16, 1912, in Bradford, PA, to the late Vincent and Josephine Tantimonaco Amato. Lauretta was a secretary with the Civil Service for 42 years working in Hawaii and at Camp Atterbury before retiring. While working for the Civil Service she had received several promotions and awards for her ability to manage and also her secretarial skills. Prior to working for the Civil Service she had worked for TEXACO, Kingan's and Co and the Indiana Theatre. She had been a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis and enjoyed sewing, reading and dining out at her favorite restaurants. Surviving is her brother Gilbert Amato of Stuart, FL, many many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Lauretta was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Lafayette, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Lafayette.
