Laura J. Moore, 99, of Lafayette, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at St. Elizabeth East.
Born Feb. 11, 1912, in Clayborn County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Leamon Stanifer and Pearlie Whitaker.
In July 1929, she married Clifford D. Moore and he died in 1970.
Mrs. Moore enjoyed puzzles, crossword books, and time with her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Delores J. Schnarr (husband: Richard) of Lafayette, Vivien C. Garote (husband: Sebastian) of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Mary Ann King (husband: Carl) of West Lafayette; two sons, Harold W. Moore (wife: Gloria) of Gastonia, N.C., and Clifford L. Moore of Lafayette, and one sister, Ealon Whitaker of Lafayette.
Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchilden. Preceded in death with her parents are three sons, David A. Moore, Roy J. Moore, and Sidney Moore, and one brother, Robert Luther Whitaker.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Pastor Ross Terry officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Online condolences may be sent to www.soller-baker.com

My condolences on the loss of your loved one. I noticed that Leamon Stanifer was her father. Leamon Stanifer, from Claiborne county Tenn was my grandfather. He was married to Lula Grace Whitaker and I see that Laura&s mother was a Whitaker also. I&m wondering if there is a connection? Leamon died on July 4th, 1964. My home phone in the evening is 429-8597.

Mary Ann - I had my Mother with me for about 2 months and we spent a lot of time sharing memories, and your Mother and family were in our memories during those reminisces and I&m sure it had to do with the Claiborne County/Tazewell connections of our families.
