Larry D. Sackett, 73, of Lafayette, died at 6:25 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East. He was born July 16, 1940, in Lafayette, to the late Lee and Ruth Sackett. He graduated from Indiana State University with a MA in education and from Purdue University with his Education Specialist (EDS). In August of 1962 he married Karen Houts in Lafayette. They later divorced. Larry was the general foreman for building services for Purdue University before retiring several years ago. He enjoyed meeting for lunch monthly with his Buck Creek High School classmates. Surviving are sons, Jeffry Sackett (wife Joanie) of Highland Village, TX, and Brian Sackett (wife Llanie) of Lafayette, a daughter, Stephanie Gould (husband Bill) of Portland, IN, a sister, Linda Flett of Lafayette, a brother, Jesse Sackett (wife Marcia) of Winterhaven, FL, three grandchildren, Elizabeth Seiver ( Husband Jay), Caitlin Gallagos (husband Nick), Meris Sackett, and one great grandchild, Avery Seiver. Larry is preceded in death by a brother and a sister Visitation will be 1 hour prior to an 11:00 AM service Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8604 Allisonville Rd. Suite 140, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
