Katherine E. Smith, 93, of Lafayette, died at 9:10 p.m., Saturday March 13, 2010, at Regency Place.
Born Aug. 21, 1916, in Noblesville, her parents were Clyde and Harriett VanBenthyson West. She married Lloyd Smith on Jan. 20, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1965.
Mrs. Smith was a seamstress at Stanley&s Department Store in Kokomo, then at L.S. Ayres, J.C. Penney&s and Loeb&s, in Lafayette. She retired in 1980.
She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of Tippecanoe Cinderella Doll Club. She enjoyed doll collecting, sewing, reading and crocheting.
Surviving are her children Kay Mull of Lafayette, Anna Byars (husband: George) of Brookston and Charles Smith of Indianapolis; and one sister Bee Snow of Kokomo.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Stephanie Linzie (husband: Edwin), Sharon Remaly, Noelle Boehle (husband: Clay), Audra Segal (Life partner: Leshia Segal), Laura Powell, Shanna Brace (husband: Michael) and Candi Booth (husband: Scott), Justin Byars, Ray Bannister (wife: Linda), and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter Olive Smith, three sisters and a brother.
Visitation is be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., with service there at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Kevin Bowers officiating. Graveside service, 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crown Point Cemetery, Kokomo. Those wishing may contribute to the Tippecanoe County Library Bookmobile.
