Karen L. Mann, 71, of Lafayette passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette after her courageous fight with cancer.
She was born November 10, 1949 in Gary to the late Kenneth and Nora (Snyder) Mann. She was a 1967 graduate of D. E. Gavit High School in Hammond where she was voted “Most likely to laugh her way through life.” Karen continued her education at Purdue University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree and also had completed some courses towards her Masters’ Degree. Karen was a teacher at Sunnyside Intermediate School in Lafayette where she taught 5th and 6th grade.
Karen had an infectious laugh. She loved to dance and work on crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed reading, watching the Hallmark Channel, and playing cards, especially Euchre. Karen especially cherished time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her partner of 38 years, Oscar Powell of Lafayette; her sister, Gail (Dave Kopanda) Repay of Hammond; brother, Doug Mann of Cape Coral, FL; nephews, Nicholas and Ben Mann; nieces, Stacey Sinde and Nicole Kreke; grandchildren, Courttayna and Colin; and close friends, Marjorie Repay and Michael Repay.
Along with her parents, Kenneth and Nora, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Nathan Mann.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 1, 2021 at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Interment Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Memory Lane Memorial Cemetery, 6305 W. Lincoln Highway (US 30), Schererville, IN 46307.
