Julene Elizabeth (Newell) Bowman, 90, of Lady Lake, FL. passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 at UF Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages, FL.

She was born August 5, 1934, in Frankfort, IN, to the late George W. and Louise (Pearcy) Newell.

Julene received her bachelor’s degree from Ball State and taught for a few years before staying home to raise her family.

On April 3, 1955, she married her beloved, George David Bowman. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1987.

Julene enjoyed being with family. She was an avid sports fan watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events through the years. She loved traveling with her kids and their families visiting every state during her lifetime. She looked forward to her annual “catch-ups” with her brothers and sister. She loved to worship on Sunday morning with her home church family or wherever she was visiting. She was a shinning testament to a Christ lived life.

Surviving are her children, George C. Bowman of Zionsville, Terri (Jeff) Booth of Lady Lake, FL, Jon (Karrie) Bowman of Lafayette, and Lori (Troy) Justice of Bloomington, IL, two brothers, George P. (Becky) Newell of Lafayette, and Ted (Carla) Newell of Muncie, sister, Marilyn (Leon) Poynter of Greenwood., two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Peterman of Crawfordsville and Cathy Bowman of Monterey, Tennessee. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren with another on the way.

Julene was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Deborah Bowman, a great granddaughter, Ashton Welker, and two brother-in-law, Tom Peterman and Micheal Bowman

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Community Reformed Church, 2501 South 18th Street Lafayette, IN 47909. A private family burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Your hometown church in honor of Julene.

My condolences to the Bowman family.. May the Lord comfort you and your family during this time of grief.

I’m so sorry for your loss but know your sweet Mom is with your father in the presence of our Creator. She was always very sweet to me and a true reflection of Jesus.

I had the pleasure of being Mrs Julene hairdresser for almost a decade. Her and I also served together as cleaners at Freedom Worship Center of Omaha Nebraska. My time with her will never be forgotten my condolences to the family.

Mrs Julene will truly be missed. She was a great woman, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Our love and condolences to the family.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are extended to the Bowman family on the loss of our sweet, warm, and God-loving sister, Julene. We express deep love and best wishes to Julene's immediate and extended family. We also miss her kind, heart-warming presence. Julene, you were always so kind and sweet to me my whole life. You made me feel like I was one of your own grandchildren. I will certainly miss your beautiful soul and loving smile. I'm so blessed to have been just a small part in your life. Heaven definitely gained one of the best angels ever. Until we meet in heaven one day, I love you
