Joyce Anne Provo, born on January 23, 1933 in Remington, IN, died on January 26, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce worked at the Benton Review in Fowler then at Purdue University in the office of publications for over twenty years.
Joyce was the daughter Harvey and Elizabeth Claire who preceded her death. She had two sisters, Harriet (Dale) Gwin who preceded her in death and Connie (Keith) Campbell. She married Francis Provo in 1952 and they had nine children, Cheryl (Michael) McCool, Debra (Rebecca White) Provo, Elaine (Robert) Hughes, Larry Provo, Randy (Sue) Provo, Timothy (Kathy) Provo, Gwen (Dan) Bell, Laurie (Chris) Gaylor and Brian Provo. She also had ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Joyce was the mother to many more than just her children.
Joyce enjoyed singing, sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, baking and cooking. She was also a Chicago Cubs and Purdue University sports fan. While in high school she sang with Wadena Sextette performing in New York City for the Morris B. Sachs amateur hour where they won 1st place.
She was the YWCA Women of Wisdom in 2007 and had won several awards at the Indiana State Fair for sewing and fashion review. She was known as the “Pillow Lady” for her volunteer sewing of heart pillows for the cardiac unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital making over a thousand pillows. Joyce served on several committees and sang in the choir for St. Ann Catholic Church.
Joyce accomplished more by accident than most people do by design and was loved by many.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 612 Wabash Ave. Lafayette, IN with Fr. Matthew Jakupco officiating. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.
