Johanna Harriet Zalkin, 73, of West Lafayette, died at 6:46 AM Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East. She was born March 27, 1940, in New York City, NY, to the late Jerome and Faye Grossman Rose. She received her BA from Brooklyn College and her MS from Columbia University in Special Education. On July 3, 1966 she married Howard Zalkin. He survives. Johanna will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving along with her husband Howard is her son Jonathan Zalkin (Pilar DelRio) of Chicago. Her daughter Amy Zalkin of Grabill, two granddaughters, Kaylay Bilbrey of Auburn and Natalie Maurer of Grabill. Also surviving is her beloved Cat Heather. She is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Rose. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN 47909.
